This last Aug 23 was a lonely day for the Philippines because former police officer by the name of Rolando Mendoza took Hong Kong tourists hostage and in the end of the day was killed along with 7 other people inside a bus.
I usually have no concern with these kinds of events but this one was particularly different. Here is why.
I was just browsing the internet last week when I happen to see a blog suggesting a very useful application for the iPad that can update you with breaking news 24/7. This so called cool iPad app is from Fox news and after reading the description and I love Fox already in the first place, I decided to download it to my pad. Knowing the news directly was an idea the quite appealed to me.
Although at first it wasn't that compatible with what I was looking but nonetheless, since it was for free I decided to give it a shot. I got my iPad insurance online too and I never had a problem with it, so I was hoping this would be the same case.
So I got the Fox news app and it was running ok in my iPad. Within 2 days I was already appreciating it, getting breaking news and even update stock market news as well. But at this particular flash news about a hostage crisis in Manila last August 23 really was the one that caught my attention.
It was really attention grabbing for me because in the Fox headline, I saw the name of the hostage taker and it immediately rang a bell in my memory. The name really sounded familiar. I would not have taken much notice of this if I didn't have that app. Maybe I would have noticed it but it'll be later in the week.
And right there and then I realized getting news update application for my iPad is another wise product to install besides the insurance for iPad I got online as well several days after I purchased my new Apple iPad.
And after that wonderful online experience I got after purchasing iPad insurance, I was more open to getting apps online but must be from a legitimate and trustworthy company.
The news I got an earlier date made me realize that this man was one of the 10 outstanding police men I saw in my uncle's picture collection in the 1980's.
My uncle was once an active member of JCI and he collected a lot photos and scrap book. It seems that Mendoza was decorated cop; I looked it up the moment I read the news in my iPad.
What happened to this man that pushed him to do such a horrific act of violence is something I'm sure will be the topic of discussion for months to come.
