A Small Summary To Retro Console Games And Systems

By Cynthia Gutierrez

Buying lots of new video games for the latest consoles like PS3, Wii and Xbox can be quite costly. While most of these games are excellent with modern, realistic graphics, there are some equally amazing retro video games from years past that cost a fraction of a new game.

Nowadays, it is really easy to find a second hand retro console like PS1, NES or Sega Saturn for next to nothing in price along with great games, especially if you look in Classified ads or sites like eBay.

You might find you can get five or ten retro video games for the price of one new game on Wii or Xbox 360 and the retro consoles themselves are also totally cheap.

Buying an old console is the most authentic way to play retro games the way they were originally intended with the original controllers and it's a great way to discover games you may have missed like Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy 1 to 8 or the original Tomb Raider.

The graphics may look a bit dated now from some of the old consoles but don't let that fool you. Many retro video games have excellent gameplay and games like Super Mario World or Final Fantasy 7 will take you ages to complete.

If you want a more convenient way to play retro games then you don't have to look any further than Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3. They all have the ability to download retro video games directly to the console and you can enjoy a blast from the past on them. The Wii for example has the Virtual Console which includes games from the NES, SNES, N64, Commodore and Neo Geo.

These services are really useful and very easy to use. You can literally be playing retro video games in minutes and you don't need to find space in your room for extra hardware. Games are available from all of the top developers like Capcom, Sega, Rare, Konami and many more.

So why not have a blast in the past and start looking to unearth some classic retro video games? You won't regret it!
